The short answer

Construction and demolition debris (wood, drywall, tile and concrete) is excluded from the City of Riverside's bulky-item pickup, so remodel waste goes to a landfill run, a dumpster, or a pickup. JunkRabbit prices common remodel pieces flat: a full kitchen cabinet set is $293, a fiberglass bathtub $90, a sheet or small bundle of drywall $37, construction debris $120, and dense concrete or masonry $219 per quarter truck. Mixed loads go by truck share, from $241 for a quarter truck.

Where remodels happen in the IE

  • Wood Streets and Magnolia Center: Craftsman, Tudor and Spanish Revival homes from the early 1900s, where kitchens and bathrooms get redone and careful carry-outs past original woodwork matter.
  • Downtown Riverside and Redlands: older houses being updated, sometimes with plaster and lath instead of drywall, which is heavier.
  • 1970s and 1980s cores: Arlington, La Sierra, Moreno Valley, Ontario and San Bernardino ranch homes getting their first full kitchen remodel.
  • 2000s tracts: Eastvale, Menifee and Murrieta homes on their second round of flooring and bathroom upgrades, and garage conversions.

Other cities' programs say the same thing in their own words: Corona and Rialto both exclude construction debris from their bulky pickups, so this is a region-wide gap rather than a Riverside quirk.

Kitchen and bath prices

ItemFlat price
Kitchen Cabinet — Upper (per unit)$48
Countertop — Laminate (per section)$56
Sink (Kitchen / Utility)$61
Toilet (Detached)$64
Kitchen Cabinet — Base (per unit)$67
Bathroom Vanity$69
Shower Door / Glass Enclosure$71

Countertop — Stone / Granite (per section)$111
Shower Stall / Kit$115
Bathtub (Cast Iron)$185
Toilet (Attached / Needs Disassembly)$192
Full Kitchen Cabinet Set (rip-out)$293

Hall bathroom tear-out: fiberglass tub, vanity, detached toilet and a shower door, $90 + $69 + $64 + $71 = $294.

Kitchen: full cabinet set plus two sections of granite, $293 + $111 + $111 = $515.

Flooring, walls and doors

ItemFlat price
Tile / Flooring (per box or bundle)$33
Window (Single Unit)$33
Drywall (per sheet / small bundle)$37
Hardwood / Laminate Flooring (bundle)$41
Lumber / Wood Scrap (bundle)$41
Interior Door$41
Roofing Shingles (per bundle)$48
Exterior Door (Solid / Steel)$63
Carpet — Removal (per room)$71
Sliding / Patio Door (Glass)$82
Construction Debris$120
Concrete / Masonry Debris (per 1/4 truck)$219

Carpet pulled from three bedrooms before new flooring: $71 + $71 + $71 = $213. A sliding patio door and two windows from a garage conversion: $82 + $33 + $33 = $148.

Three remodels, worked through

Wood Streets bungalow, original bathroom: a cast-iron tub, an attached toilet that needs to be unbolted, a pedestal sink and plaster debris. $185 + $192 + $61 = $438 for the fixtures, plus the plaster as construction debris at $120: $438 + $120 = $558. The tub alone is a heavy, careful carry through a narrow hallway, with no stairs fee.

Moreno Valley 1980s tract, kitchen refresh: four upper and four base cabinets plus two laminate countertop sections. Uppers $48 + $48 + $48 + $48 = $192, bases $67 + $67 + $67 + $67 = $268, countertops $56 + $56 = $112. Total $192 + $268 + $112 = $572. If the whole kitchen is coming out, the full cabinet set at $293 is the better line, so ask for both in the quote.

Menifee garage conversion: a sliding door, two windows, three bundles of drywall and the old carpet from the bonus room. $82 + $33 + $33 + $37 + $37 + $37 + $71 = $330.

Heavy material: concrete, tile and plaster

Weight, not volume, is the problem with masonry. A quarter truck of broken concrete from a patio demo or a torn-out block planter weighs many times what a quarter truck of drywall does. That is why concrete and masonry are priced separately, at $219 per quarter truck. Old plaster and lath from a Downtown or Wood Streets house is also dense; mention it in your photos.

If you are self-hauling, Riverside County's landfills charge $52.68 a ton for routine loads and $70.26 a ton for hard-to-handle loads, with a $43.20 minimum. A trailer of concrete adds up quickly by the ton. Tarp everything; uncovered loads pay $25 extra.

Pickup, dumpster, or landfill run?

  • A pickup suits jobs where debris comes out in stages or in a few big pieces: a bathroom, a set of cabinets, a weekend of carpet. Nothing sits on the driveway.
  • A dumpster suits a long, continuous demolition where debris is produced every day for weeks. In many IE cities, solid-waste and bin service runs under a franchise hauler such as Burrtec, Waste Management or CR&R, so check who can place a bin at your address.
  • A landfill run suits contractors and DIYers with a truck and time.

HOAs in Orangecrest, Eastvale or Temescal Valley often restrict how long a bin can sit in a driveway, which pushes many homeowners toward pickups.

Getting it priced

Photograph the debris pile and anything still attached, like cabinets or a tub. Note whether the toilet is still bolted down and whether there is concrete or plaster in the mix. Leftover paint is accepted, at $30 per 1-gallon can and $52 per 5-gallon bucket; solvents, adhesives and other chemicals are case by case. In summer, schedule debris pickups for the morning, before a garage full of drywall dust turns into an oven. Upload on the instant quote page. Crews carry it out from any room, any floor, with no stairs fee, and same-day pickup is available when you book by 4 PM.

Frequently asked questions

Does Riverside bulky pickup take construction debris?

No. The City of Riverside excludes construction and demolition debris, including wood, drywall, tile and concrete. Corona and Rialto exclude it from their programs too. It needs a landfill run, a bin or a pickup.

How much does it cost to remove a kitchen?

A full kitchen cabinet set rip-out is $293. Countertops are $56 per laminate section or $111 per stone section, and appliances are priced separately. A cabinet set and two granite sections are $293 + $111 + $111 = $515.

How is concrete priced?

Concrete and masonry debris is $219 per quarter truck because it is so dense. Self-hauled, it is charged by the ton at county landfills. Tarp the load either way.

Can you take a cast iron tub?

Yes. A cast iron bathtub is $185 and a fiberglass tub $90. Both are carried out from the bathroom, on any floor. Disconnect the plumbing first.

Is a pickup or a dumpster better for a remodel?

A pickup suits staged jobs and HOA homes where a bin cannot sit in the driveway; a dumpster suits weeks of continuous demolition. Many remodels use both. Check who can place a bin in your city first.
